Since 1993, Sissy Reed has
faithfully served the residents of District 2 as a dedicated and committed
Councilman. She is a devoted and active member of the community; having made
Blue Springs her home since 1973. Throughout her many years of service, her
involvement in a wide variety of commissions and committees has broadened her
understanding of government, fiscal responsibility and community
involvement. She has served as Mayor Pro-tem with Mayor Grounds, Mayor Steiner,
and Mayor Ross, and is currently participating on the
Revitalization Board, the Builders Development Board and the Historic
Commission.
District 2 includes the downtown
corridor, and Sissy is very passionate about revitalization and restoration of
this critical and historic area. She believes that encouraging quality
businesses to locate along Main Street and supporting the investment of the
business community will enable this area to thrive and grow.
Sissy’s current and former community activities include the her participation
with the First Baptist Church, St. Mary's Auxiliary, Rotary Club, the Blue
Springs Business Association and Nelson Friends of Art. Her hobbies include
travel and antiques. Sissy has two adult children and is a grandmother of three.
